DRESS FOR THE SEVERAL UPCOMING CELEBRATIONS!

Kiran Bahl

By KIRAN BAHL

Let the holiday season begin! So many occasions to celebrate and cherish from India’s Independence Day and Eid, to Onam and Raksha Bandhan. This part of the year commences so much more joy, so let’s happily dress the part too!

FROM RED, WHITE & BLUE TO ORANGE, WHITE & GREEN

Last month, we celebrated America’s freedom, Independence Day. This 15th is India’s turn, and it’s a bit more colorful too. Match our flag’s colors that also coincidentally match the fashion trends of now.

Neon colors are making a comeback. Use this opportunity to wear a neon orange lengha or neon green anarkali gown to pop out from a crowd.

Not feeling too bright and bold? Wear a white sari or salwar suit with orange and/or green trims. Even a shaded, Ombre sari will look ethereal. Added banarasi gold work will add shine! Or, wear a rust orange or olive green ensemble to remain subtle and still oh-so-patriotic.

EID MUBARAK

Temperatures are still rising and the humidity is, too. Eid is fancy, but how to look cool and calm while feeling ablaze in 95 degree temperatures?

Keep to pastels to look and feel lighter. Baby pinks, beiges, sky blues and mint greens do the trick. Choose cotton or silk georgette suits with allover embroidery or butti stone trims for embellishments and detail. A simple suit with a fancier dupatta, too, can easily add charm and up your look a level!

JEWELRY IS THE NEW JAM

Onam and Raksha Bandhan, too, are included in this beautiful month. To elevate your look, notice the jewelry trend this season!

Overly large earrings are in style, particularly round wide ones and long dropping ones. Stay away from studs and small jhumke looks. Chained earrings, too, are making a comeback, the ones with attached chains that wrap around the sides of your head to the back. Super traditional is now super trendy especially when paired with a fusion look! Necklaces are full and choker style or long and draping. Don’t wear a simple rope or pendant chain.

Bangles are extreme. Either stacked by the dozens (cuffs included) or just one prominent kada on each forearm. Gaining popularity are belly belts and anklets for more sparkle and shine. Gold and silver looks are both in demand, including mixing the two. Rose gold, however, has taken a backseat. Store those pieces for later.

Summer’s fun, occasions make it even better! Celebrate with your family, friends and party away with the whole world every now and then! And as always, remember to ‘gro with style’!
