FIRST OF ITS KIND, FLORIDA HINDU MATRIMONIAL EVENT, SEPT. 14-15 IN TAMPA

Prospective brides and grooms, forget those online matrimonial sites full of promises. Instead, here’s your opportunity to find the perfect person, face-to-face! Florida Hindu Matrimonial (FLHM), a first-of-its-kind event, will be held Sept. 14-15 in Tampa.

The event was conceived as a far-off idea by Devyani and Nainan Desai and Malti Pandya. This year, the group has brought the concept to fruition with the backing of K. Venkataram of Hindu Family Support Services.

“The goal was to make finding a life partner more personal than the current online/app based forums which are repetitive and informal,” says organizer Pooja Pandya. “Unlike similar events that have come before it, Florida Hindu Matrimonial is open to all Hindus, Jains and Sikhs regardless of caste, language, or regional background.”

Single men and women between the ages of 24 and 45 are encouraged to register to meet each other and "swipe right in person.” The benefits that come from an event like this are endless but mainly, participants have the opportunity to meet in person and converse, says Pooja. “This allows for a better first impression and true connections. Having been to similar events, I can honestly say that I am more excited for FLHM because the format is different. Rather than the same old speed-dating, the organizing team has a lot of unique and fun ideas and a more modern mindset.”

This two-day program starts Friday evening, Sept. 14, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Airport hotel, 555 N. Westshore Blvd. The program will consist of variety of segments so that attendees can connect with one another. Registration is open until Sept. 1; visit flhm.hfssusa.org For more information, call (769) 241-0674.
