DILIP PATEL LAW FIRM MERGES WITH Shutts & Bowen

Dilip Patel Law firm has merged with Shutts & Bowen, a Florida-based law firm with more than 225 attorneys in six offices in the Sunshine State and one office in Europe. Board certified in Immigration and Nationality Law, Patel will be a partner in the Corporate Immigration Group in the firm’s Tampa office.

Before joining Shutts & Bowen, Patel founded his own firm where he concentrated his practice in immigration and business transactions. He served as general counsel for an international IT services and outsourcing company. While there, he oversaw the company’s $50 million initial public offering (IPO), which was followed by a secondary offering of $100 million. When the company was acquired, he was involved in the merger negotiations and closing, which were valued at $450 million.

ORLANDO AREA ENGINEER RECEIVES SEVERAL AWARds

presents Tim Madhanagopal with the Engineer of the Year award.

Tim Madhanagopal, P.E., BCEE, F.NSPE, F.WEF, of Central Florida has received a few honors in 2011. Earlier this year, the Central Florida Engineers’ Week Celebration Committee recognized him with a Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award. The honor is given to Central Florida engineers for their accomplishments and also recognizes outstanding engineering projects and organizations in the area.

In August, the Oviedo resident picked the 2011 Florida Engineering Society (FES) Engineer of the Year Award at the society’s 95th Annual Conference. The award is given to a society member who best exemplifies the ideal image of the Professional Engineer and recognizes the engineer’s record of consistent achievement over a long period of time in education, employment, professional and public service.

In October, Madhanagopal was selected as one of 17 Fellows nationwide to the inaugural group of Water Environment Federation (WEF) by its board of trustees. The WEF fellow program recognizes the professional achievement, stature and contributions of the WEF members to the preservation and enhancement of the global water environment.

Madhanagopal has been dedicated to public service for the past 33 years. He is a plant manager with Orange County Utilities, where he manages advanced water reclamation facilities that provide cost-effective and environmentally sound water reclamation and reuse programs in Central Florida.

He also is past chair of the Asian American Council, former president of the Hindu Society of Central Florida and Muthamizh Sangam of Central Florida and past vice chair of the Seminole County District of the Boy Scouts of America.


Learn to make movies at IIFF Weekend Film School in Tampa

India International Film Festival - Tampa Bay will be starting a weekend film school. This two-day workshop is geared for students 18 years of age and older, with little to no experience in filmmaking, and want to start making low-budget films with high production values. If you've ever wanted to make films or learn how to make films, this is for you! Students will get to learn about filmmaking and earn hands-on experience in making a short film.
