Expectations are high from this Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and UTV Motion Pictures production releasing Dec. 19. After a disappointing month of Hindi movie releases, the year may end on a high note. His many fans count on Aamir Khan to deliver entertainers with a worthy story, heart and endearing music. Essential details about the characters and plot have been kept under wraps leading to much intrigue and anticipation.

“PKStarring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt; directed by Rajkumar Hirani; music by Shantanu Moitra and Ajay-Atul.

After the successful “3 Idiots,” Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films team up again to present one of the most awaited films of the year. Known only by his initials, Aamir Khan stars as PK, whose innocence and curiosity take him on a wonderful journey. Speaking in Bhojpuri throughout the film, Khan worked with a coach to master the language. In a comedy of ideas about a stranger in the city, PK asks questions that no one has asked before. They are honest, child-like questions, but they bring about catastrophic answers. People, who have been set in their ways for generations, are forced to reevaluate their world when they see it from PK's innocent eyes. In the process, he makes loyal friends and powerful foes. Sanjay Dutt plays his friend Bhairo Singh. PK also mends broken lives and angers the establishment. His childlike curiosity transforms into a spiritual odyssey for him and many others. Sporting a new look, Anushka Sharma plays the free-spirited Jagat Janani aka Jaggu.

The makers say the film is an ambitious and original exploration of complex philosophies but also a simple and humane tale of love, laughter and letting-go. Finally, it is a poignant saga about a friendship between strangers. Some reports say the film is a satire on gods and godmen. According to director Hirani, themes of Gandhian philosophy are present, similar to “Lage Raho Munnabhai.” The lively soundtrack featuring Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam and Swaroop Khan is sure to be a hit.
