DO’S, DON’TS FOR HOLIDAY WEAR!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays! Let’s look at some do’s and don’ts to keep your celebrations and style jolly all season long! From fusion saris to traditional suits and lots of bangles to delicate minimalist chokers, ’tis the season to shine and sparkle!
FUSION SARIS
-
Do wear peplum blouses, lace halter blouses and one-shoulder blouses with your party and even traditional silk saris for a modern twist.
-
Do wear a contrasting petticoat underneath your sari for a pop of unexpected color. Try a white sari with dark green petticoat or beige sari with maroon petticoat for some holiday pomp and cheer!
-
Don’t opt for a traditional shawl over your sari this season. For cooler temperatures, opt for a cropped cardigan or colored leather jacket. A mustard leather jacket over a black or red sari is elegant and in the now.
TRADITIONAL SUITS
-
Do stay golden! Suits are more Moghul than modern lately and almost all are dripping in golden embroidery and sequin/stone working.
-
Do lean toward salwars and straight pants again. Churidaars have finally taken a backseat in designers’ looks and looser pants are flowier.
-
Don’t stick to just gowns. Anarkali gowns are still all over the place, but so are open vested styles and short kameez styles. Shorter tops will take over the runways soon, start getting used to the look again now.
BANGLES 101
-
Do wear lots and lots of bangles are on the rise. Wear up to two (why not even three?) dozen on each arm and literally jingle with joy.
-
Do steer towards same hue bangles if not all the same. Different textures look great together too, but in a monochromatic palette.
-
Don’t color block or ‘rainbow’ your bangles. More is more quantity wise, but in color, less is definitely more!
CHOKER ETIQUETTE
-
Do choose minimal gold or silver chokers to pair with your ensembles. Extremely thick ones are fading out for now.
-
Do mix metals. Gold and silver together in an intricate pattern on your choker is definitely a statement piece and perfect for your next celebration.
-
Don’t multilayer chokers or necklaces. Choose one choker or even a long necklace; just don’t wear three at once!
Happy holidays to everybody! Enjoy the parties and the celebrations. Most important, enjoy with those who make you smile because life is too short to compromise on true happiness. Be safe and as always, remember to ‘gro with style’!
