GET READY FOR UPCOMING INVITES!

Happy 2016!! We hope all had a loving and bright (and stylish!) holiday season with family and friends, celebrating our blessings and helping those in need too.

As we’re all recovering from the fun and chaos of the holidays, let’s take a few minutes to look over the latest Indian fashion trends to prepare for the oncoming invites of poojas, gatherings, parties and the occasional winter wedding!

JANUARY = JEWEL TONES

Ladies and gentlemen, put away the neutrals and pastels from months past and focus now on deep, vibrant hues in your wardrobe. Florida weather may still be warm, but it is still winter. Jewel tones are in. For a richer feel, royal blues, emerald greens and ruby reds are commanding runways.

A royal blue sari will look amazing at a wedding or fancy party. An emerald green lengha will sparkle at parties and formal gatherings. A ruby red churidaar at a pooja or dinner party will have all eyes on you. Subtle changes in the shades you choose this month will make all the difference and have you look the latest.

Men, follow the same rules. Keep the beige/cream, baby blue and pale yellow kurta pajamas and sherwanis on the side and wear deeper palettes of color. Browns and blacks are alright as well. Just make sure the shade is on the deeper end of the color spectrum.

JANUARY = PRETTY PRINTS

It’s all about the prints this season, particularly, floral and traditional ones. Prints weren’t just discovered, but they have been in hiding. The minimal, simplistic looks took over our wardrobes in 2015 filled with solid colors or if feeling bolder for a minute, solid colors graduated in ombre and tie dye styles. Finally, these prints are back.

Ladies, prints shouldn’t be scary. So many I know dread an allover look of flowers, elephants or stripes, especially thinking they’ll look larger in some way. Prints are pretty … and simple! Just think balance.

Try a salwar kameez with a floral print all around the kameez. Keep the salwar and dupatta simpler, and you’re on trend. But, again, balance. Don’t add an additional print on the salwar and dupatta or wear shoes with a different pattern altogether. Not feeling as risky? Invert! Keep the kameez simple and ‘accessorize’ with a print on the salwar and dupatta. Easy!

Men, too, have been bit by the print fashion bug and look bolder by wearing a trim of block printing on their kurtas or foil brocade stripes on their sherwanis or dupattas. It’s important to mention that men previously feared any sort of print, much less one of flowers on their clothing, but are now realizing more and more that fashion wants them looking their best too. We are so proud of you!

Again, we wish all peace in 2016. Along with the necessary resolutions of keeping healthy, happy and wealthy, do keep the resolution of remaining stylish too. Because if you know you look good, you’ll surely feel as good too! And, as always, remember to gro with style!
