EID ATTIRES FOR THE FAMILY

Eid Mubarak!! What a joyous time of year for so many! From prayer gatherings to party goings, there’s so much hustle and bustle. Let’s get our Eid wardrobes ready for the whole family so every member can celebrate with friends, family, love, laughs and style!

Delicate damsels

Ladies, notice how Indian and Pakistani styles are merging together in many ways. This Eid, the trend continues, promoting union between all. Indian Anarkalis have lengthened and narrowed, and are practically gown looking, like Pakistani styles. However, to fuse the two feels, net has replaced the waist/abdomen area to create a sheer unexpected twist. Pakistani outfits emote elegance and Indian outfits promote a classic feel. How beautiful when put together! Sheer embroidered sleeves and stone-worked necklines too have become popular, in the back as well! Pakistani suits have been incorporating Indian churidaars too, and are adding more shimmer and shine to ensembles, including kundan and beadwork.

This season, a more feminine approach is becoming the ‘it’ factor. Pakistani styles practically brand neutral and pastel shades. Indian outfits emphasize bold color and hues. To update, mixing the two palettes creates magic. Pastel shades such as mint green or baby blue paired with a bold emerald green or royal blue is beautiful. A red sari with baby pink or beige contrast work is lovely!

Another softer feature taking over runways, especially for Eid looks, is the use of lace and crochet. Dominantly in American fashion this year as well, the fragile look of cutwork lace and crochet adds grace to any type of ensemble. Lace sleeves, a crochet sari blouse, even a slim cut border on the bottom of your suit can look just so pretty!

Groomed gentlemen

Gentlemen, this is your season to shine! Eid gives you a perfect opportunity to showcase the latest looks, many also fused from Indian and Pakistani wardrobes alike.

The look this time around requires a bit of grooming in outfit color and pattern choice. A major change in men’s outfits that’s here to stay is the use of more color. Blue, purple, and black colors are quickly replacing the neutral white and beige looks. Color threadwork, too, is gaining popularity. The current favorite is black threadwork, including sequin/stonework too. A purple kurta pajama embellished with black work is so regal and wearable.

Indian kurta pajamas and sherwanis usually come paired with churidaar pajamas. Pakistani looks involve looser patiala salwar styles. Both are perfectly interchangeable and acceptable. The new bolder bottoms are nawaab salwars. Almost equestrian looking, these ‘pants’ are loose on top with pleats and more narrow on bottom. Comfortable actually!

Cute children

Kids are our reflection, our reason to brag and not feel self-centered at all about doing so! From their loving hugs to their naughty tricks, they’re just simply cute. Incorporate what we read on ladies’ and mens’ styles and use them on your kiddos too. For added sweetness for girls, match their suit or lengha with a sequin headband or shiny multi-colored bangles. To make your boys even more adorable, contrast their kurta pajamas with funky shoes. With kids, some craziness equals lots of style!

Once again, Eid Mubarak to all our readers! Each holiday, no matter how big or small or where it originates from, is special. And what makes each holiday even more precious are the happy memories we share with one another. Enjoy every moment, and always remember to ‘gro with style’!
