CHINMAYA’S TEJOMAYANANDA TO PRESENT FREE TALKS IN ST. AUGUSTINE, ORLANDO, TAMPA, MIAMI
Swami Tejomayananda, head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide, will present a series of spiritual discourses and lectures in four Florida communities. Swamiji is a world-renowned author and composer of more than 200 books, hymns and devotional songs. One of his key contributions, “Hindu Culture: An Introduction,” has been adopted as a reference text in some U.S. high schools. He excels in expounding with insight, simplicity and wit on the Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavatam and the Upanishads.

MIAMI: The last stop will be July 25-27 in Miami with “Ramayana: Your GPS on the Road of Life (Purajana Gita). There also will be a “Tips for Happy Living Workshop” from 9 a.m. to noon followed by lunch on Sunday for which tickets can be purchased online. HEMA MALINI AS ‘DURGA’ TAKES STAGE JULY 13 IN JACKSONVILLE
If you missed Hema Malini present the goddess “Durga” dance ballet in Coral Springs or Orlando last month, you have one more opportunity. The world-renowned Bharatanatyam dancer will be performing in the Jacksonville area on Sunday, July 13. Thank the Hindu Society of North East Florida for organizing this fundraiser to benefit the temple.
Stunning costumes, music and accomplished dancers add to this live mythological spectacular. A first-class dancer in the Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Odissi styles, Malini is renowned worldwide for her interpretation of Durga. The choreography is based on the charitas (stories) from the Devi Mahatmaya and also from the common folklore of Sati, Parvati and Durga. The ballets by her company, Natyavihar Kalakendra, have thrilled millions of viewers.

SHREYA GHOSHAL CONCERT AUG. 9 IN FORT LAUDERDALE
At just 30 years of age, her list of accomplishments is unbelievable. She has won the National Film Award, Filmfare Award and IIFA Award for Best Female Playback Singer, several times over.
It was with “Devdas” that Shreya Ghoshal launched her career as a playback singer and since then there has been no looking back with film songs recorded in not just Hindi but also Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Nepali, Oriya, Tamil and Telugu. She has sung hit songs in “Guru,” “Jab We Met,” “The Dirty Picture,” “Raanjhanaa” and “Aashiqui 2.”
