JUNE 2016
Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

Our kudos go to Rishi Nair of Seffner (Tampa Bay area) for taking top honors at the 2016 National Geographic Bee. Also, to Dr. A.K. Pillai of Tampa for winning the 63rd Indian National Film Award in the category of “Environment Conservation/Preservation” for his movie “Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal” (Birds with large wings). Do check out a sumptuous recipe in our cookbook review of Madhur Jaffrey’s “Vegetarian India.” And an in-depth profile of Bharathanatyam teacher Geetha Karkera of Orlando was long overdue.

Congratulations to the graduates of 2016. If you know an accomplished graduate, tell us about it. E-mail [email protected] with graduate in the subject line, be sure to include name and contact information.
