SEPTEMBER 2019
Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE – [email protected]

The festival of nine nights has arrived at our doorsteps! It’s time to get out the vibrant chaniya-cholis and colorful kurtas as we prepare for Navratri. Besides, there are several other noteworthy programs, including the Sept. 7 Tampa Bay Indian & World Festival, Sept. 14 Unforgettable Sufi and Sitar concert with Ustad Shujaat Khan, and the Sept. 15 HSCF New Age Group celebration of Grandparents Day.

Two schools named after Indian Americans in Florida opened last month: Dr. Mona Jain High School in Bradenton, and Dr. Kiran C. Patel High School in Tampa. We covered both the ribbon-cutting ceremonies. We kick start a new column, Business Buzz, by Karyn Anjali Mathura. Plus, we have columns on health, fashion, immigration, motoring, and of course entertainment with movie previews of “Chhichhore” and “Dream Girl.”
