Congratulations to Chandani Desai of Largo for coming first runner-up in the Zee Cinestars talent contest on March 10. The 20-year-old is the pride of the Sunshine State. Our best wishes also go to Dr. Akshay Desai of St. Petersburg for being appointed a member of the State Board of Education by Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Also a job well done to Rohun Mathure and Niserg V. Rao and their team at Middleton High in Hillsborough County as they head out to Atlanta April 12-14 to participate in the U.S. First Robotic National Competition.

As for upcoming events, do check out �Kabeer,� a mono-act musical play by Shekhar Sen to be staged on April 28 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. The entire proceeds from the show will benefit the Divine Shakti Foundation of Rishikesh, which plans to build a home for abandoned children just south of Rishikesh, on the banks of the river Ganges. Also worth your time will be musician Nandkishor Muley�s concert on the same day, but in Melbourne, to benefit the �Ma� Krupa Charitable Foundation, a Brevard County-based organization.
