DR. RAO MUSUNURU RECEIVES ANOTHER NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Rao Musunuru, M.D., a nationally recognized cardiologist, humanitarian, philanthropist, and community activist from Tampa Bay Area, was recently recognized by the National Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) during its 2013 awards Gala in Seattle, as the recipient of its ‘2013 Southern Region ACCT trustee leadership award.’ The ACCT is a nonprofit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond.
Dr. Musunuru has served on the Pasco Hernando Community College board in Florida since April 1999 and chaired the board three times.

“His longstanding service as a PHCC trustee and tremendous contributions to the unprecedented growth of the college are testaments of his support for education and community” said PHCC president Katherine Johnson. “He continues to care, literally, for the hearts and minds of our community.”
Musunuru has been affiliated with Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point since 1981. Over the years, he has served as chief of medicine, chief of staff, director of medical education, and chair of the board of trustees for the Hudson-Area HCA Hospital.
He has been an active American Heart Association volunteer since 1979 and he is a recipient of the 2003 AHA National Chairman’s Award, the 2005 national physician of the year award, and the 2007 National Volunteer Advocate of the year award. He also served as a council member for the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at National Institutes of Health.
