TIPS TO LOOK ATTRACTIVE ON VALENTINE’S DAY!

Kiran Bahl

By KIRAN BAHL

February’s the month of love including a day especially filled with romance – Happy Valentine’s Day! Girls, get ready to dress up and dazzle to celebrate this time, whether partying it up with friends and family or privately celebrating someplace. These quick tips will help you looking your most attractive yet!

A BIT DIFFERENT, TRY WINTER PASTELS

Okay, so Valentine’s Day generally means we have to wear a formal form of red, black and maybe sometimes a deep splash of pink. Yes, there are those rebels who wear purple, maybe a sparkle of blue or yellow here and there, but let’s stick to the general rule of thumb.

Pastels are the favorite hue of this winter, though. So take those standard shades and lighten them up! A red sari or deep pink lengha look sizzling, but a baby pink or peach one mixed with white or beige working will look demure, graceful and refreshing. Black is a favorite, the most flattering of colors to show off. But a gray or silver suit instead of black won’t look so standard, it’ll have you stand out in the crowd!

To look a bit more refined when wearing pastels, have your jewels, shoes and clutch a deep color either in matching or contrasting shades. A sea green straight churidaar will look amazing with both an emerald and diamond set or a sapphire and gold one.

ADD ELEGANCE TO YOUR RED OR PINK ENSEMBLE

It’s just me, but I look forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day just to wear a new red or pink dress. Looking extra girly for your guy is so much fun on this day! So, how to make your red or pink outfit look not so much like a Karva Chauth celebration?

There’s always the option of wearing an American dress with a fusion of Indian sparkle from your shoes or jewelry – true new Bollywood style. Now, when wearing an Indian sari or suit, I suggest minimal jewelry and easy hair for a maximum sensual effect. The more jewels you pile on, the more you’ll look like you’re celebrating a godly holiday – not truly sexy!

HAVE MORE FUN WITH YOUR GO-TO BLACK OUTFIT

No matter the occasion, maybe except a wedding here and there, black is an acceptable form of attire. Valentine’s Day is no exception. After all, black looks dark and mysterious (and very flattering!) always.

A con with this neutral color, however, is that it is a basic concept. Worn to the office, corporate meetings, cocktail hours, and many a gala, party or social event, it becomes a common shade if anything. So twist it up and have some fun with your overall look!

Add a shiny long necklace, body chain or belly chain to a black sari or lengha. It’ll bring focus to different areas in a different way. With suits with higher necklines, wear a chunky choker or with full-sleeves, opt for a thick kada or cuff over them. Right now, bigger is better when more covered.

You always want to match your black lengha with a gold or silver clutch. And a gold or silver jewel set. Even gold or silver heels. Stop the metal matching and contrast! Add a navy blue or maroon clutch or heels as a spin to add whimsy to your look – you’ll be more noticed!

I wish you all a loving Valentine’s Day once again. This day, this month is of course targeted to spend with your significant other. But love blooms in so many forms. Cherish your close family and friends, appreciate them all. And, as always, remember to ‘gro with style’!
