Congratulations Class of 2016
Sneha Sathish – King High School, Tampa
Sneha Sathish, daughter of Sathish Subramani and Srividhya of Tampa, graduated from King High School's KAPS program. Over the past four years, Sneha has participated in her school's varsity cross country, track and tennis program qualifying for states individually every year. She has earned accolades such as All-Team First County, Female Tennis Player of the Year and a Tampa Tribune Athlete of the Year nomination. She has also been an active member of clubs such as National Honor Society, Interact and Key Club. While undergoing a rigorous AP course load, Sneha has managed to be one of King's most accomplished athletes, as well as, their 2016 traditional salutatorian. She plans on attending the University of Florida and study medicine while double majoring in psychology and business.
Maya Patel – Freedom High School, Tampa
Maya Patel, daughter of VC and Nila Patel of Tampa, graduated from Freedom High School in June as valedictorian of her class of more than 460 students. She also earned an Associates in Arts degree with honors from Hillsborough Community College through the dual enrollment program. Maya is a dedicated community volunteer with over 1,000 hours of volunteer work.
Throughout high school, Maya has represented her school at numerous contests in history, geography, science, math and leadership. She has also been a part of the Mayor’s Youth Corps and the Advisory Board at MOSI’s Kids in Charge. In 2012, Maya had the privilege of representing Florida at the National Geographic Bee in Washington D.C. She has participated and won in various Indian cultural dances at India Festival in Tampa for the last 12 years.
Maya plans to attend the University of Tampa Honors Program as a double major in biochemistry and business.
