Rangoli. Henna. Hairstyles. Drawing and painting. Cooking. Garnishing. Fashion. Singing. Exhausted already? Well, save all your energy and gear up for the second annual Arts of India Exhibition, which will be held Sept. 10
and Sept. 11 at India Cultural Center, Lynn Road, in Tampa. The event is
organized by the Gujarati Samaj of Tampa Bay.
New for the Arts of India Exhibition is a live music competition of
"Sa-Re-Ga-Ma" and "Antakadi" on Friday night. "Amateur singers will
entertain the audience with their vocal talent," said Pallavi Patel, chair
of the event. An emcee will conduct the festivities, which also will be
judged by a panel of experts to pick the best.
Also, the India Cultural Center stage will light up with some lively and
unique fashion, as participants show off the latest trends in casual, party,
bridal and formal wear.
"This year's event promises to be bigger and better and is receiving
tremendous attention and interest from far and beyond all the local Indian
communities," said Patel. Among the communities taking part are the
Maharashtra Mandal, Bengali Association, Kannada Koota Association, Punjabi
Association and the Students of India Association.
Booths and stalls set up at the exhibition will offer food as well as the
latest in Indian jewelry and clothing.
"Indian culture is a great mix of bright colors, unique styles, upbeat and
modern trends, exotic spices, sensuous flair modesty and much more," said
Patel. "It has influenced the day-to-day living of everyone worldwide."
The Arts of India Exhibition will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday,
Sept. 10 and Saturday, Sept. 11. Admission for the two-day event is $10 per
person. The charge for one day only is $6 per person. Children under ages 6
are free.
