BOOKS

“Indian Funeral Resource Book serving Tampa Bay and surrounding areas,” presented by Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of Tampa Bay.

The 84-page informative book is the result of a labor of love of the Community Services Committee of FIA under chairman Ram K. Pai. It answers basis questions about cremation, offers checklists for survivors and information about funeral arrangements.

A list of volunteers, religious organizations, funeral homes and florists in the Tampa Bay area will be extremely useful. Items needed for antyeshti vidhi (death ceremony) are listed in English and Gujarati. The Sikh funeral ceremony, Jain cremation, Christian rituals after death and Muslim burial are explained in detail. Also offered is a chapter on “Transporting the Body to India, after Death in the USA.”

“Indian Funeral Resource Book” is available for $5, plus $2 for mailing to cover printing costs. A $7 check made to FIA of Tampa Bay can be mailed to Ram K. Pai, 8452 Dunham Station Drive, Tampa, FL 33647 or e-mail ramnathkpai@hotmail.com
