Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

It’s time to take out the colorful chaniya-cholis and kurtas as we prepare for Navratri, which is just around the corner as you can see from our coverage on page 1. The festival of nine nights is just one of several events happening this month. Manasota/Sarasota India Festival organizers are expecting over 4,000 people to attend their second daylong India Festival on Sept. 6. The same day, the INDO-US Chamber of Commerce in Tampa will hold their annual black-tie Banyan Ball. And you don’t want to miss tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, who returns to Orlando Sept. 26 for a performance, courtesy of the Asian Cultural Association.

For all the book lovers, we have our Under the Cover book reviews of “Vision and Wisdom” by Bala V. Manyam, “A Matter of Rats” by Amitava Kumar and “The Shenanigans of Time” by P.A. Chawla.

Community organizers, remember to drop us an e-mail about future events in your town. Please follow us on Twitter @khaasbaat and join us on Facebook for details about late-breaking events. Khaas Baat is proud to be the ONE AND ONLY Sunshine State publication to offer comprehensive coverage of happenings in your Florida Indian community.
