Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to get out the vibrant chaniya-cholis and colorful kurtas as we prepare for Navratri. The festival of nine nights is just around the corner as you can see from our coverage on pages 1 and 4. Other noteworthy events are the annual Tampa INDO-US Chamber of Commerce Banyan Ball and Orlando Indian American Chamber of Commerce, both on Sept. 16. “Dancing for God” on Sept. 23 in Fort Lauderdale will delight Bharatanatyam and Kathak lovers.

For all cookbook lovers, we have reviewed “Deepa’s Secrets: Slow Carb/New Indian Cuisine” by Deepa Thomas, a must for type 2 diabetes patients. In Under the Cover book reviews, we urge parents and children to read “We Are One” celebrating diversity.
