DECEMBER 2011
Khaas Baat : A Publication for Indian Americans in Florida

Editor's Note

By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE

As the year winds down, we still have a few activities taking place in the Sunshine State as is evident from our upcoming events listing. Look forward to reading about Republic Day celebrations in the January issue.

This month, we profile Rick Singh of Orlando who is running for election to the Orange County Property Appraiser’s office. “I want to lay a foundation so children in future can essentially have something to build on,” says the 49-year-old while looking for support from the community. (story, page 22).

Also do check out our cookbook review of Hari Nayak’s “My Indian Kitchen: Preparing Delicious Indian Meals Without Fear or Fuss,” in which the author, restaurateur and chef shares some easy-to-make and mouthwatering recipes he learned from his family, neighbors, street vendors and numerous friends (story, page 24).

Community organizers, remember to inform us about events planned in your town. We also accept letters to the editor. Remember, Khaas Baat is the ONE AND ONLY Sunshine State publication that gathers and provides comprehensive coverage of happenings in your Florida Indian community. We welcome your suggestions and feedback at [email protected]
