KHAAS BAAT CELEBRATES ONE YEAR
To borrow a clich, how time flies! Indeed, it does. We at Khaas Baat
(associate editor Shephali J. Rele and creative director Paul Wright)
are overjoyed at the response our monthly publication has received.
You may recall that we started with just 1,500 copies in our inaugural
August issue last year, serving primarily the Tampa Bay area. This
month, we printed 6,000 copies for circulation all over West Central
Florida as well as such places as Daytona Beach, Jacksonville,
Gainesville, Ocala, Port St. Lucie, etc.
This month, we have an update on Parita Patel, the Indian visitor who
was in a fight with the Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF)
over her baby Krinna. It is a relief to note that DCF has not only
handed the 2-month-old back to the mother but also dropped all charges.
We continue with the questions and answers from Harikrishna Majmundar,
an expert on welfare issues among elderly immigrants.
And if you get the opportunity, do listen to Kronos Quartets CD
Youve Stolen My Heart: songs from R.D. Burmans Bollywood.
Once again, we want to thank all our readers, well-wishers and
advertisers for their support. We look forward to another eventful and
fun-filled year.
Please continue to support our advertisers and send in any
suggestions/comments to [email protected] And letters to the editor
are more than welcome!
