Happy New Year to all our readers, well wishers and advertisers. Hope everyone had a joyous and festive holiday season.

As we kick off 2006 at Khaas Baat, we are glad to bring you news not just from West Central Florida but also Tallahassee, our state Capitol, and Jacksonville on the northeast coast. As you can see from our stories on the dance play "Neeharika" and the Tallahassee temple fire update, we are slowly but surely expanding our coverage area into other counties.

Though we took a two-week break during the holidays, we have worked hard to produce this January issue. You may notice that some of our regular columnists are out on holiday but they will be back next month.

In the meantime, we thank Dr. Ram Ramcharran for his excellent contribution, Caring for your special needs dependent (story, page 6). Also, we are updating our previous story on the Kronos Quartet because the foursome along with Asha Bhosle have been nominated for a Grammy Award for their album Youve Stolen My Heart: Songs from R.D. Burmans Bollywood. (story, page 6)

Look out for two promising films being released in January: Rang De Basanti (story, page 9) and Albert Brooks Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World (story, page 12) and also check our picks for the best Hindi films of 2005 (story, page 9).

Once again, a happy and safe 2006 to you all.

Letters To The Editor
I am writing to express my deep gratitude to Khaas Baat and the writer of the column for seniors. Mr. Harikrishna Majmundar has always been answering my questions on Medicare and Medicaid with utmost promptitude and attention. His answers have helped me a lot seeing that no help is available to us in this area.

And all this, at no cost. It is rare in this age to find someone doing work of such monetary importance at no cost. His selfless attitude deserves admiration.

Please convey my sincere thanks to him through the columns of your periodical. I must thank you also to have enlisted the services of such a kind person for the benefit of the readers of Khaas Baat.
