FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: I am a naturalized citizen. I have 40 quarters. I am 67 years of
age. My Social Security is only $300 per month and monthly expenditure
is $1,500. Can I get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) of $1,200
monthly?
A: No, please. I feel you better go to India. You may get a job.
Q: I have completed 32 quarters. I am a citizen. I lost my job and I am
a tailor by profession. I have a house in India. Can I get 4/5 of my
Social Security in India?
A: You should try to complete 40 quarters by paying 15 percent of
Social Security tax. I would not advise you to leave this country
without completing 40 quarters.
Q: I have overstayed in this country. I have no green card. Should I
leave this country or wait for some new development next year?
A: Unless you get a deportation notice, you may look forward to the new
development.
Q: I am only 35 years of Age. I am a self-employed person and have to
pay a large sum for earning credits. I have heard that after 20 years,
Social Security will not be given as the funds are not likely to last
that long.
A: There is no danger whatsoever of Social Security being discontinued.
Q: I am 70 years old. I am getting Medicaid and Medicare as well as
SSI. I want to leave this country. Can I get a part of my SSI in India?
A: SSI is payable only if you are in USA.
