From The Editor's Desk By NITISH S. RELE and SHEPHALI J. RELE - [email protected] Let the summertime festivities continue! School is out and vacation on everyone’s minds but cultural and social activities among the Indian American community in Florida are a dime a dozen. Read about the events on this page and on the cover. As we near our two-year anniversary next month, we are glad that our expansion plans into South Florida are picking up momentum. We are glad to have new advertisers and subscribers from South Florida as well as upcoming news from that area. We are now extensively covering happenings in Jacksonville, Gainesville, Bradenton/Sarasota, etc. (story, page 11). And read all about the businesses that are undergoing renovations in your neck of the woods in the Out and About in Florida column (page 8). New York City-based Shundell Prasad, the bright young director of the Indo-Caribbean film, “Once More Removed: A Journey Back to India,” needs to be commended for chronicling her journey through Guyana, India and the U.S. (page 17). Kudos to Khaas Baat columnist Dilip Patel for being picked Chair of American Immigration Lawyers Association Central Florida Chapter (page 6). Another Khaas Baat contributor, Uma Eyyunni of St. Augustine, recently released her audio CD “Samarpayami.” (page 8) Once
again, thanks to our advertisers for their support and readers for their
feedback. Do e-mail us at [email protected] with your suggestions,
ideas. Previous Editor's Notes | Khaasbaat Archives |
